Two specialists. One shared vision.
Embodied Eating brings together specialist psychological therapy and dietetic support, working in true partnership to offer a joined-up, compassionate approach to eating disorders and disordered eating.
Making peace with food and your body is possible — for everyone
At Embodied Eating, we believe that recovery is not about perfection — it is about building a life that feels meaningful, flexible, and free. We came together because we share a deep commitment to integrated, specialist care that treats the whole person, not just the symptoms.

"Nourishing your body should feel safe — my role is to help you find your way back to a peaceful, sustainable relationship with food."
I am an Advanced Specialist Eating Disorders Dietitian with over 16 years of clinical experience across the NHS and private sector. My work sits at the intersection of clinical expertise, research, and compassionate care — always guided by the voices of the people I support.
In my clinical role I am Lead Dietitian within the multidisciplinary team at Elysium’s Brighton and Hove Clinic, a 16-bed CAMHS inpatient eating disorders unit, where my team supports young people and families with food-related distress, nutritional management, and enteral feeding. I developed Nourish to Flourish — a psychoeducation group co-designed with service users — in direct response to patient feedback.
Since February 2023 I have been a THIS Institute Clinical PhD Fellow, researching nasogastric tube feeding under restraint and working to co-design improved patient-centred support options alongside patients, parents, carers, and healthcare staff.
Helen West is also a guest lecturer on the UCL Dietetic Masters Programme, has delivered training for over 50 paediatric nurses, and has contributed to weight stigma training for the British Dietetic Association and Public Health Scotland.
Is Butter a Carb?

"Every person, regardless of their size or history, deserves specialist, high-quality support to make peace with food and their body."
I bring an empathic, warm, and nonjudgmental approach to my work, prioritising a strong therapeutic relationship where you can feel truly listened to and understood. I believe in working collaboratively to help you navigate complex difficulties, drawing on evidence-based models to tailor treatment to your unique journey.
I am particularly passionate about supporting individuals who may feel stigmatised or overlooked — including those navigating eating difficulties in higher-weight bodies. I recognise the deep courage it takes to seek help, and I am committed to providing a compassionate space that challenges weight-based stigma and promotes body neutrality.
I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Hertfordshire, with doctoral research focused on the development of childhood-onset anorexia. Post-qualification I have specialised in child and adolescent eating disorders across inpatient and community NHS services, and I am a regular Guest Lecturer at the University of Surrey.
